The Black Veil: A Dark & Glittering Halloween Cocktail

Some Halloween cocktails rely on bright colors and over-the-top garnishes. The Black Veil takes a darker approach.

Gin, blackberry liqueur, fresh lime, and a homemade black sesame syrup come together in a cocktail that’s rich, tart, nutty, and just a little mysterious. Collins Glitter Syrup gives the drink an unexpected shimmer, while Collins Bar Foamer creates a smooth, dramatic finish worthy of your Halloween lineup.

The result is a cocktail that looks hauntingly good without sacrificing what matters most: flavor.

Why Black Sesame?

Black sesame gives this drink its signature deep color and toasted, slightly savory richness. When combined with Collins Glitter Syrup, lime zest, and a splash of vodka, it becomes a silky homemade syrup that adds depth without overwhelming the blackberry and botanical notes in the cocktail.

Make the syrup ahead of time, keep it chilled, and your Halloween cocktail is only a shake away.

The Black Veil Cocktail

Ingredients

For the Black Sesame Glitter Syrup:

For the Cocktail:

  • 1 oz gin

  • 2 oz crème de mûre or blackberry liqueur

  • 1 oz Collins Glitter Black Sesame Syrup

  • 1 oz fresh lime juice

  • 2 tsp Collins Bar Foamer

Make the Cocktail

Add the gin, blackberry liqueur, Black Sesame Glitter Syrup, lime juice, and Collins Bar Foamer to a cocktail shaker.

Shake vigorously without ice for about 60 seconds to build the foam.

Add ice and shake again for about 30 seconds, or until thoroughly chilled.

Strain into a cocktail or martini glass and serve immediately.

A Cocktail Made for After Dark

The Black Veil has everything a Halloween drink should: dramatic color, a little shimmer, and an unexpected flavor profile. Tart blackberry and lime keep the drink bright, while toasted black sesame gives every sip a richer, darker edge.

Serve it at a Halloween party, spooky-season dinner, or anytime your usual martini feels a little too innocent.

Dark, silky, sparkling - and gone before midnight.
