Hibiscus Gin Sour

Start spring off right with a bright and beautiful cocktail by Tara Snyder. Featuring the tangy flavor and bold color of hibiscus flowers and a hint of spice from ginger, her take on the classic gin sour is a colorful and decadent way to celebrate the sunshine.

INGREDIENTS: Serves 1
2 oz Gin
1 oz Hibiscus ginger simple syrup
½ oz Lemon juice
1 Egg white
INGREDIENTS: Hibiscus ginger simple syrup
1-1½ inch Piece of peeled, chopped ginger
3 tbsp. Dried hibiscus flowers or tea
1 cup Sugar
1 cup Water
DIRECTIONS:
Make hibiscus ginger simple syrup:
Combine simple syrup ingredients together in a small saucepan and cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes or until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat, strain out ginger and hibiscus and discard. Set aside infused syrup to cool.
Make the cocktail:
In a cocktail shaker, add gin, lemon juice, egg white, and hibiscus ginger simple syrup. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds or until foamy. Add ice and shake for another 20 seconds. Strain into a coupe glass.
